Born and raised in Southern California, Melissa was immersed in Mexican culture from a young age, which sparked her passion for exploring her heritage and the art of visual storytelling through travel and photography. After years of experience in the photography industry, Melissa seized the opportunity to move to the Yucatan Peninsula, where she dedicated herself to deepening her understanding of her roots and language. Her journey to fluency in Spanish included a creative mix of translating lyrics from her favorite band, Zoé, watching children's movies to grasp humor in the language, and reading Magical Realism literature in its original form. This immersive approach allowed her to connect with the lyrical beauty of her new home.At Freestyle Languages, Melissa thrives on helping others break communication barriers and find joy in becoming multilingual.
Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys documenting love stories for couples marrying on the picturesque Caribbean beaches and exploring her vibrant city with her two rescue pups, Lolli and London. Melissa is passionate about fostering connections and celebrating cultural diversity, making her a valuable asset to any team.
