Emily holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Spanish focusing on linguistics, Iberian & Latinx literature, and history from Texas State University. During her undergraduate years, she studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain. While student teaching, she realized she wanted to learn more about linguistics in an educational setting in order to better serve her students. This led her back to Texas State to continue her studies of both Spanish and Education. During her graduate program, she worked as a research assistant for the international conference Southwest Council of Latin American Studies (SCOLAS), and returned to Spain (Valladolid this time!) as a teaching assistant for the university. She was also a member of the Spanish Honor Society and International Honor Society in Education.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing soccer, working out, hiking with her dogs and traveling to new places (so she’s in great company at FLC!) Emily enthusiastically joins #TeamFLC and its engaged community of adult learners following a Spanish teaching stint of 5 years in middle and high school. As a former Freestyle student, she is excited to serve the Freestyle community in Operations Management – given the online growth of a community now open to the world!
