Born in Washington to an elementary school teacher and a professor of medicine and public health, both of whom had lived abroad and traveled extensively, Caitlin developed an early love of foreign languages (with a highly-developed travel bug!) and teaching; one might say they’re in her DNA! Caitlin’s love of everything French can be traced to a beloved aunt from Metz, France who has sent her treasures from her travels her entire life. Some of those treasures included books, so Caitlin learned French to read Charles Perrault and Italian to read Giovanni Boccaccio.
Caitlin holds a BA in French and Italian Studies from The University of Washington and an MA in Romance Languages from The University of North Carolina. She has lived abroad three times (so far); Poitiers, France in high school, Rome and Rogliano (a tiny town in southern Italy) in college, and a faculty exchange in Montpellier, France. She has taught at The University of North Carolina, The University of Montpellier III, The University of Alabama, and Oxford College at Emory University.
When she’s not teaching or traveling, Caitlin loves to read, bake, and explore with her dog, Scully, and she looks forward to sharing a love of French and travel with you in class! (And as an accomplished participant of #FreestyleEDU, TeamFreestyle heartily welcomes Caitlin as the engaged French instructor we know her to be !)
